Exploring the Southwest through Paint
 My new series of oil paintings, Exploring the Southwest through Paint, is currently being exhibited at DIS on Cornwall Avenue in downtown Bellingham, WA.  The show is up through the months June and July.  Stop by to see what I've been up to this past winter.

GVAL Artists Reception           
 The March 1st opening reception of the Gilbert Visual Art League Juried Fine Art Show was well attended.  The Gallery was full of artists and guests.  The art was enjoyed by all ages.

Ribbons were hung for the art work in the judging categories of Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Mixed Media, Drawing, Photography, and Best of Show.  Winning artists received awards.

The art can be viewed and purchased through March 29 in the Gallery at the Gilbert Historical Museum, Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Please come by to see a diverse selection of fine art.

Accepted into Juried Show
Now it's time to get busy framing.  These three paintings have been accepted into the Gilbert Visual Art League Juried Fine Art Show and Sale, March 1-29, 2014, in the Gallery of the Gilbert Historical Museum, 10 S. Gilbert Rd, Gilbert Arizona.

Superstition Mountain

The painting found a home this summer before I had finished it!  This image is of Superstition Mountain, which is part of the mountain range commonly referred to as the Superstitions located in Arizona east of Phoenix. My goal was to capture a mood that conveyed the mystery associated with the legends and lore of the mountain range.

This studio work is based on a plein air piece that I painted this past spring 2013 during a trip to Borrego Springs, California.

On Edge

Arches National Park was inspiration for this landscape.  I enjoyed playing with the color in this painting and capturing the path of light.  The sunlight strikes the arch from behind (creating a halo along its edges) and falls on the rocks below.  The diagonal thrust of the arch and land creates a dynamic composition.

Juried into West Valley Art Museum Celebration of Artists 2013 Exhibit.  On display in the Peoria City Hall Art Gallery from April 22 through June 13, 2013. The Awards Reception will be on Thursday, April 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Gallery.
